Volunteer Session Assistant

This role is for regular and long-term participants who know the project, to provide support to the Rewild Crew on a regular basis.
You will have been involved with the project for at least 6 months and feel confident in one or more of the sessions.
The Rewild Project is an environmental education project, dedicated to enacting radical social change by teaching a range of craft and land skills and promoting a true local economy. We target marginalised and disadvantaged groups here in The Forest of Dean with a range of community projects. Our ultimate-goal is to create a sustainable land based eco village community of craftspeople and land workers here in the Forest of Dean, running apprenticeship programmes and building a real, workable local economy.
We run a number of Heritage Crafts and Land based Projects aimed at a range of groups. This role is supporting our open access weekday sessions run Tuesdays – Fridays where we run a range of therapeutic and low pressure craft and land based skills to improve people’s health, wellbeing and to inspire a new generation of self-directed skilled workers.
This position can be tailored to the individual’s skills, experience, and ambition, but some potential responsibilities include:
- Supporting the project coordinators and session leaders with simple tasks.
- Helping prepare meals for the sessions.
- Providing practical help to participants e.g. helping with a woodwork task.
- Preparing/setting up sessions and encouraging participants to do so.
- Tidying up after sessions and encouraging participants to do so.
- Making suggestions for activities, being part of decision-making processes.

Have been attending a Rewild Project Session as a participant regularly for 6 months.
Good knowledge of relevant health and safety considerations.
Skills / Experience: Desirable
Interest in living or working in cooperative or non-hierarchical settings, alternative settings, using Sociocracy /S3 or consensus decision making.
Authentic relating / communication / NVC (Non-Violent Communication).
Roles & Responsibilities:
Complete volunteer induction.
Uphold The Rewild Project aims & ethos.
Safeguarding training.
Various tasks to support the session delivery by agreement.
Ongoing staff training / team building across The Rewild Project. Occasional evenings and weekends by agreement.
Commitment to engaging in the re-wild conflict resolution process if/when conflict arises.
