Bring your class for an unforgettable day right in the heart of the forest…
A fully immersive day here at Kensley Sheds woodland craft centre, outdoors- under shelter & round the fire.
We start our experience days by looking at the human timeline from Palaeolithic to Neolithic - then look at the important subjects of shelter, water, food, fire.
Your class will partake in a firefighting activity, then look at where food came from and how our ancestors would have used the whole animal, from meat, to bone, sinew for thread.... look at some tanned animal skins and bone jewellery.
This will of course be handled sensitivity and they will have the chance to try some meat or fish prepared together.
We then eat lunch together around the fire, then after lunch try some skin work, willow weaving, cave art with charcoal made on the fire, over dinner, or clay along with nature connection and foraging games to tune in to the senses, just as our ancestors would have had to.
If you need to keep costs down, parents can drop children off directly between 8.30-9am.
The children will finish the day at 2.30, taking away a piece of ancestral work of their choice, be it animal skin, willow basket, or clay pinch pot.
